Urinetown: The MusicalBook by Greg KotisLyrics by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann Music by Mark Hollmann Corporate Sponsor: Furrer Beverage bad title... great show! Even the creators admitted it’s a bad title for a Broadway musical … in fact, they say so right in the opening song! But then again, what else would you call a satire about political corruption, corporate greed and love that takes place in a Gotham-like city where a severe water shortage has led to a harsh ban on private toilets. Residents are forced to use only public amenities owned by the malevolent Urine Good Company, which charges outrageous fees for one of life’s most basic needs. But among the people is a young rebel who decides he’s had enough of the inhumanity and leads the downtrodden citizens in a revolution so they can, once again, pee for free! |
