The Leading LadiesBy Ken LudwigDirected by Tom Liszka “LEADING LADIES” LOAD-IN THIS SATURDAYLoad-In for ACT’s production of LEADING LADIES will begin at 9 a.m. this Saturday, November 8. Please come help move the set from the scene shop and basement of ACT’s building across the alley to the Mishler, so Bob Nearhood and his crew can start to get everything put together on the stage. Bob also could use some help this week to prepare for Load-In with preliminary construction and painting. He’ll be working in the ACT scene shop Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and Wednesday night at 7 p.m. so just show up. If you haven’t yet heard who’s in the LEADING LADIES cast … Rob Smelley (last seen in THE ODD COUPLE) and ACT newcomer Josh Way of Johnstown are cast as Jack and Leo, the two British actors who try to scam an inheritance from a dying woman (played by ACT Cheesecake Maven Cece Haines). Julie Settle is Meg, the old woman’s niece, and John Illar (also a newcomer to ACT) is Meg’s fiancé Duncan. Gina Volpe is a roller-skating ice-cream waitress named Audrey, who happens to be the love interest of Butch, (played by another newcomer to ACT, Michael DePiro), who happens to be the son of Doc Myers, played by Cliff Drury. Don Belasco rounds out the cast as the Head of the Moose Lodge, although there also will be several special appearances throughout the show by various crew members working backstage. As a matter of fact, we still need a few more people to be these Crew Members/Onstage Extras, so if you’re interested, call Mary Lou Duey 695-1157 for more information or e-mail her at mduey11@verizon.net. Performances of LEADING LADIES, sponsored by ALTOONA FIRST SAVINGS BANK, are 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 20, 21 and 22, plus 2 p.m. Sunday, November, 23. Tickets are $15 each (plus a $2.50-per-ticket box office fee) and are available at the Mishler box office from Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. |
